First Date - Craft Beer and Tater tots

April 25, 2017

Lauren and Christian had their first date on a Tuesday night back in Arlington, Virginia. Lauren had suggested two solid choices, a high-end fancy restaurant and the most suspicious dive bar in the area. We opted to the questionable dive bar. We had a few beers, some tater tots and hours of conversation. Christian would not walk away without scheduling the second date. It took a bit of convincing, but Christian was able to get penciled in on Lauren's calendar for dinner later that week.

Our Engagement

We took a trip with our good friends Josh and Brittany Miller to visit Arizona to see the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell. We toured the area by land, air and sea to make sure we could experience all that area had to offer. Our engagement took place atop the grand Tower Butte, which is part of the Navajo Nation. Christian rented a helicopter to fly over the famous Horseshoe Bend and see the sights of the amazing canyons below, or so Lauren was told. As we approached the helicopter, Lauren didn't expect a thing because Christian was crazy nervous about riding in the strange flying contraption. The helicopter pilot took off playing Bob Marley and traveling near 200 miles an hour. Christian got more nervous. Lauren was extremely excited and you could really tell. The pilot took a hard right turn over towards Tower Butte. We circled the tower as we increased our elevation. Lauren was very surprised that we had arranged to land on this massive tower. Christian was struggling to hide the ring box in his sock because Lauren has been inspecting our carry-on bags for "water". We landed on the summit and Christian couldn't have been happier. We walked over to the edge to take in the view. Christian turned to Lauren to ask if she would like spend rest of her life with him and if she would be marry him. She was surprised and quickly replied, "Yes!" and was presented with her ring. We then opened a bottle of champagne on Navajo Nation territory and got in a bit of trouble, but it was worth it to toast you our new engagement.
