Chris & Lauren met at D Group through their Young Adult Ministry at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock. Chris was a group leader and Lauren sat right beside him on her first night. They exchanged awkward eye contact as she admired his heart for the Lord and sense of humor. After multiple nights of group fellowship, cookouts, and holiday parties, Lauren built up the courage to respond to one of Chris' Instagram posts. Soon after, they exchanged stories and ate tacos on their first date at Tacos 4 Life. From then on they have shared their love for the Lord, many laughs, and multiple adventures!
After one year of dating Chris wanted to "celebrate their anniversary" with a nice dinner in downtown Dallas. Since Lauren is always down for a steak she agreed to be there. After a wonderful evening of dressing up for a night on the town, looking back on their first year, and setting goals for the future, Lauren had NO IDEA what was to come! She was looking forward to dessert but Chris insisted that they walk off dinner and find an ice cream shop on their way. After leaving the restaurant, Chris drove Lauren to Klyde Warren Park and took a zig-zagged stroll through the beautifully lit park. Upon their walk, Lauren and Chris stumbled upon a familiar face (Lawson - Chris' brother) rustling in the bushes snapping photos. This is when it hit. Lauren was shocked, excited, and couldn't believe her best friend was going to become her forever life partner. She probably didn't communicate these feelings in that moment as she started to sink and uttered, "no, no, no" in pure shock as Chris thought he read this entire situation wrong. Bless his heart! However, they both knew that this was the moment they've dreamed about and it was coming more and more true with every step towards the decorated table Chris had set up. Chris read very kind words and scripture before kneeling on one knee. Lauren couldn't help but say YES as she was filled with excitement thinking about their lifelong plan to continue to push each other closer to the Lord!
