Our first date was just your modern-day fairytale: girl meets girl at Red’s Icehouse bar, girl has her shirt cluelessly on inside out, strange man informs girl of wardrobe mishap and buys a round of drinks, and the rest is history. Ok, so I left a few parts out, but it’s all true, I swear it. There was actually some lovely conversation thrown in that crazy mix. I could tell Lauren was so nervous, but she was adorably putting herself out there, seemed to want to know all she could about me, and made me laugh a lot. I knew I wanted a second date when she didn’t go fix her shirt after she realized it was on inside out. She laughed about it and took it in stride. I appreciate a person who doesn’t take themselves too seriously. We shared some jokes, some drinks, and some delightfully fried seafood while gathering with all of the other crazies at the bar anticipating Hurricane Florence’s arrival in a day or two. We left the bar that night with a little extra pep in our steps and smiles plastered on our faces. Those smiles are still just as huge today. We can't wait to celebrate our wedding with you! See you in Italy!
