On a beautiful fall day in October 2013, a mutual friend’s birthday party brought Lauren and Brent into Golden Gate Park. Lauren had recently moved in to a nearby apartment with a close college friend, Dena, who Brent grew up with. Though they had met a few times previously, Lauren and Brent hit it off that day, chatting on a blanket for hours. The conversation continued long after the party, and even carried into the next day when Brent worked up the nerve to ask Dena to give him her new roommates phone number. On their first “real” date the next week, Lauren and Brent watched a world series game they couldn’t have cared less about and talked over late night burgers at local brewery – a spot where exactly one year later the two celebrated their one year anniversary, and have shared many meals since. For the last three years, Lauren and Brent have been living apart – Brent working as a Deputy District Attorney in Eureka, a sleepy little Humboldt County town, and Lauren forging new and exciting paths in San Francisco and beyond. Yet, while long distance relationships are tough in the best of circumstances, each made a commitment to the other, using long weekends and trips together to reaffirm just how much they wanted to be together. Finally, it was on one of these long weekend trips to Lauren’s beloved hometown of Seattle that Brent asked Lauren to marry him – almost losing the ring in the process (but that’s another story for another day). While Lauren’s repeated initial response of “what?...WHAT!?” will always be something Brent remembers, it is the single word answer of “yes” that sealed the deal. Family, friends, and friends who are family are the greatest joys in Lauren and Brent’s lives and they are incredibly honored to share their wedding day with each of you.
