Our love story began at a wedding, thanks to a little matchmaking from our sisters, Cheyenne (Lauren's sister) and Taylor (Brennan's sister). The two of them were enjoying the celebration of a wedding at the open bar when they realized they had siblings around the same age—and, naturally, the idea of setting us up came up in conversation. They exchanged a little about each other’s sibling, then passed it along to us, and just like that, Brennan and I found ourselves chatting about our crazy siblings. We hit it off immediately. There was an easy connection, and before we knew it, we were talking like we had known each other for years. But timing wasn’t quite on our side—at the time, I was traveling, when I came back, Brennan was out of town, so we couldn’t meet up for a while. When we finally did get together, it felt like the universe had been waiting for us to cross paths. We spent hours talking, laughing, and simply enjoying each other’s company—from 6 p.m. until 5 a.m. to be exact. We couldn’t stop smiling, and the conversation flowed effortlessly. Our second date was in Parker, and it was just as easy and comfortable as the first. But the day after that, I moved back up to Fort Collins to start another year at Colorado State, and Brennan came to visit for our third date in Fort Collins. That evening, he drove through a flash flood to get to me—because that was the only few hours we could make work for us that week. Despite the storm, he made it, and it was like we hadn’t skipped a beat. We picked up right where we left off, and by the end of the night, Brennan asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes, and from that moment on it has been pure bliss. Two days after Brennan asked me to be his girlfriend, he left for Wisconsin to play hockey, but distance couldn’t stop us. We were both committed to making it work, calling each other every night, sharing our days, and doing everything we could to stay close even from miles apart. It wasn’t always easy, but it was always worth it. We found a way to stay connected and to keep growing together, no matter the miles between us. And here we are today, ready to take the next step in our journey, as we get ready to say “I do” and begin the rest of our lives together!
