It was just an average week in 2022, we were both getting over Covid and had been “working” from home for the week. On Monday, Bobby asked if we could go on a walk on Wednesday. Despite the extreme planning, nothing jumped out at me at this point. Come Tuesday night, Bobby set the stage that he needed to run out to CVS for more meds in the morning. Again, seemed normal enough. Now it’s Wednesday, he’s about to leave when I find his keys and a checkbook on the bathroom counter. I jokingly say, you’re going to need these aren’t ya? Not even realizing that a checkbook is not a normal thing to take to the pharmacy…around 6pm we finally head out for our walk (after several check ins on timing and some encouragement to duck out a little early from work). We took a nice leisurely stroll, talking about life and the future as we often do. Around a mile in, Bobby starts working his way back towards our house, but me being the exercise fanatic I am was like “is that it?!”. So he begrudgingly agreed to another loop. Little did I know the trick he had up his sleeve! As we’re rounding a corner near one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood, I see a car pull up and two people hop out, phones in hand, and start walking towards us. In total shock, it took me way too long to realize it was Bobby’s brother Cody and his fiancé Katy, ready to document the moment! As I finally understand what’s going on, I stop and turn back and Bobby’s looking at me like “you seriously haven’t caught on yet??”. Then he smiled, got down on one knee and asked me the easiest question I’ve ever been asked: “will you marry me?”.
