a day to remember

It was just another sunny summer day in 2017, and Lauren was really not feeling up to her shift as a lifeguard at the Five Seasons Swim and Tennis Club. After a morning spent begging everyone she could think of to cover for her, she reluctantly found herself at work. The one person she thought could help—her coworker David—wasn’t able to, so there she was, checking people in at the gate. And who shows up that day? David! Normally, Lauren would have given him a hard time about not being able to cover but still showing up, but that day, something was different. With him was a guy who immediately caught her attention—Ben. Instead of teasing David, Lauren greeted them both with a warm smile, struck up a conversation, and shared a few laughs with Ben, who was easy to talk to and effortlessly charming. Lauren figured that was the end of it—a brief, pleasant interaction with a guy who was so cute that David was off the hook for making her work that day. As David and Ben headed toward the pool and up to the gym, Ben mentioned to David how nice and easygoing Lauren seemed. It wasn’t just a casual comment—there was something about her that made him want to get to know her better. Coincidentally, Ben had recently enrolled at Miami University, the same school Lauren was already attending, which was the perfect excuse to reach out and see if she'd be interested in hanging out. What started as a random, fleeting interaction at the pool quickly turned into something deeper. Ben reached out to Lauren soon after, inviting her on their first date to Skyline—very Cincinnati of him. And from there, everything just seemed to click. As they got to know each other, they were both surprised to learn that they had actually gone to the same high school. They had so many mutual friends and likely crossed paths countless times over the years, yet never truly met. It was one of those moments that made them both realize how small the world can be—and how sometimes, life brings people together when the time is just right. Eight years later, Lauren and Ben are inseparable. They went to Miami together, got their first apartment (with their sweet fur baby Phoebe), bought their first house, and now they’re getting married! It’s been an unforgettable journey, and they’re excited for all the adventures still to come as they start on this new and exciting chapter in their story.
