We're getting married!

There’s not one “moment” where we met, but it generally boils down to two things – accounting class and mutual friends. In the fall of ’09, Lauren and Austin were both in intro to accounting. Lauren sat with Austin’s friends that she knew, and started to slowly get the really quiet cute guy (Austin) to start talking. Not only was he really funny when he came out of his shell, but he was also acing all of the accounting tests. So a few study sessions turned into dates, and on November 6, 2009 they made it official.

Fast forward 7 years later, and Lauren and Austin are happily living in DC. For their anniversary, Austin had made reservations for dinner at one of their favorite places. Then he also asked Lauren if she wanted to go on a picnic that day as well. Lauren thought that was a bit odd given that’s usually far down on Austin’s list of things to do, but didn’t question it. They arrived at the Tidal Basin for their picnic and Lauren could tell something was up. When she suggested a bench for the picnic, Austin said let’s go somewhere where there were less people. (Remember - it’s November. There are no people!) They went a bit off the path, set up the picnic, and then Austin whipped out his iPad saying he had made a “digital scrapbook” for their anniversary. It was an adorable powerpoint slideshow of their entire relationship – the past, the present, and the future. And at the end of the future, Austin asked Lauren if she would be his wife.
