The American Tobacco Historic District is a former tobacco factory area consisting of 17 historic structures. Listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2000, it has been revitalized into many shops and restaurants. It's a fun place to walk around and see where tobacco was sold starting in the 1870's. The Durham Bulls Athletic Park (home of the awesome AAA baseball team made famous by the movie Bull Durham) is right next store!
We love being outside and if you are looking for a peaceful escape, you can follow the trails that run along the Eno River, which was an important home to several Native American tribes.
Stagville is an historic house museum made up of buildings from the Stagville Plantation, one of the largest plantations in the American South. Tours are offered of the grounds and houses, and the buildings date from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century.
This is Lauren's alma mater, and was the first public University in the United States. Check out the "quad" and the lovely old Oak Trees. Located in downtown Chapel Hill, just adjacent to Franklin Street.
