An outdoor ceremony?? In October?? Are you mad??

Answer

Well, yes. But it'll be worth it for the colors, we swear! Should weather persist the ceremony will take place on the castle grounds, taking place under a gigantic canopy tree in autumnal colors, looking out onto a gorgeous finger lake. An indoor ceremony area is prepared in case of poor weather. At this time of year, weather in upstate NY only has one real consistency: extremely low chance of any precipitation. However, temp wise previous years for this date have been 50F, 54F, 63F, 68F..... The realistic aim is 55-65. The rest of the party will be indoors, but the outdoor area will still be accessible throughout the entire night. Please be aware of this fact when planning your attire. If you are a Floridian, thermal tights are encouraged. If you are a Wisconsinite, you guys are good.

How do I get to Geneva?

Answer

Up to you, really! Geneva is almost smack dab in the middle of Syracuse NY and Rochester NY, both major cities and travel hubs. We would recommend a rental car from either airport, because autumn in upstate NY is like nothing else, and we hope you go explore it! But if you don't want to do that, some options include: - Greyhound Bus : ROCHESTER to GENEVA : Twice Daily - Greyhound Bus : SYR to ITHACA to GENEVA - Amtrack connecting ROC and SYR in case you prefer a certain path We are also discussing shuttles to and from the major hubs. TBD.

What is Geneva like?

Answer

Geneva is a vintage small town nestled right on one of the beautiful finger lakes. You will find a lot of small eateries and artistic shops in the area, and during the lively season this town is home to a TON of festivals and outdoor events. If you are a fan of wine we recommend you take some time before or after our wedding to visit one of the several world famous finger lakes wineries in the area, or take a stroll in any of the nature preserves to truly understand why upstate NY shines in autumntime.

Im glad you asked, hypothetical reader! Since almost all of you will be coming in via Rochester or Syracuse, we encourage you to take a look at these unique locales. Fly into Rochester to visit the Strong Museum Of Play (a ton of exhibits, but the world video game hall of fame is of course a favorite in this household!), get yourself a garbage plate, and enjoy a bustling metropolis of activities. Fly into our homebase Syracuse to try some of the best food in your life (DM me for recs spanning Polish to authentic Szechwan Chinese), explore the wonderful Rosamond Gifford Zoo, or visit my friends at [Name redacted until it's publicly announced] downtown for a one-of-a-kind puzzle adventure!

Check out the Hotels & Travel tab for more info. But the drive to Geneva both ways is one highway, and it cuts through gorgeous areas like bird sanctuaries. You could easily stay wherever you like and just hop on the highway!

What is the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail attire. Its a castle. Bring a coat and wear thermal tights if you are the type to get cold easily. The wedding party will have a bit more flair than most common weddings. So if you want to wear something a little fantasy or vintage yourself, we highly encourage it!
