This is one of Emma and Lauren's favorite places to walk around in the summer in Philadelphia. There's a breeze off the river and a shaded waterside paved path through Philly that runs from South Philly, past Rittenhouse square area, up past the art museum and into Fairmount Park. The city offers free kayaking on the river some days, if you schedule in advance.
This is a super delicious food festival that repeats every weekend at FDR park in South Philly. The market grew out of a community of Lao, Khmer, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian vendors and it's the best place in the summer to get some fresh and delicious street food and watch a community soccer game in one of our favorite parks in Philadelphia. It closes for severe weather, but if it's open you can just follow the loop around the park until you smell skewered meats and fresh squeezed sugar cane juice!
Philly, depending on where in the city you are driving from, is 30-45 minutes to Tyler Arboretum. Old City features the historical sights of the city and a number of excellent restaurants, shops, and galleries to browse.
The town of Media has a concentrated downtown with a number of restaurants, bars, stores, and coffee shops. It's walkable from the hotel.
