Laura and Michael met at the wedding of two friends, Caitlin and Jacob Gerber. They hit it off immediately. Not only did the sparks fly, but they felt like they had known each other for years. They felt so relaxed and happy together in a way that neither had felt before. Within a few hours of meeting, Michael texted friends Lindsey and John saying "Guys, I kinda have a massive crush on her. She's beautiful and funny and fun." The response was "I told you!" See, some may say that there were forces in motion determined to have them meet. Those forces were Lindsey and John. Both had known Laura and Michael for years. Both thought that they were perfect matches for each other, as confirmed by Lindsey's oddly good knowledge of Myers-Briggs personality types. Well, they were right. By the end of the weekend, they were both convinced that they had found The One. Michael went home and felt compelled to tell everyone he knew about the news, and already was dreaming about the first dance song at their wedding. Laura had never met a guy like Michael before, and she was instantly smitten! They were determined to spend more time together, despite the minor logistical issue that one lived in Charleston and the other lived in New York City. Still, that seemed trivial compared to the love that was blossoming and taking root. A love stronger than the physical distance between them. Love at first sight may actually be real. When you know, you know.
Right around their two-year anniversary, Michael proposed to Laura in one of Laura's favorite places in New York City--the Long Island City waterfront in Gantry Plaza State Park. After getting engaged, Lindsey invited Laura and Michael over to her apartment to have a glass of champagne to celebrate. What Laura didn't know is that Lindsey and John had planned an engagement party for them, with their families and close friends! It was a day of festivities, fun, and very full hearts. And of course, some karaoke. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Charleston!
