On February 11th 2003, Jacob Wayne Holcomb was born in Germantown, Tennessee to Wayne and Jane Holcomb. 6 months later, Laura Grace Hardy was born on August 6th in Jackson, Mississippi to Clay and Christy Hardy. When the Holcombs relocated to Myrtle, Mississippi, they joined Temple Baptist Church- where Laura Grace's great grandmother Thelma Callicutt was a member. In the summer of 2008, the Hardys moved back to Clay's hometown of New Albany. Laura Grace and Jake continued to grow up 10 minutes apart from each other without ever speaking. Laura Grace attended many church events with her great grandmother over the years, and the two even went on the same week-long school trip without exchanging a word. While their families had known each other for years, Jake and Laura Grace did not formally meet until the beginning of their senior year of high school. Laura Grace and her now maid of honor, Sarah Johnson, were sitting and talking in a parking lot one night when Jake just opened the door of Laura Grace's car and got in. He did this claiming it was because he was friends with Sarah. He later admitted he'd been waiting for the chance to talk to Laura Grace for years, ever since she'd become friends with his now best man Caleb Nolan. Laura Grace quickly became part of their friend group, bringing some of her own friends in as well. Jake and Laura Grace quickly went from casual to close friends, hanging out almost every day after work and school. It didn't take long for their friends to catch on and start wondering "Why won't they just admit it already?" Finally, in January of 2021, Jake told Laura Grace he had feelings for her- and had all along. Luckily, she felt the same way. By the end of the month they'd made things official. They had the same friends, they worked the same jobs together, they were bound for the same college, they were best friends, and they were in love. In August of 2021 they moved to Starkville, MS to attend Mississippi State University. They were inseparable through their first two years of college. They watched their best friends fall in love, made new friends, attended sorority and fraternity date parties, and began to grow into their adult lives together. Unfortunately, growing up began to mean growing apart. In the summer of 2023 they decided to go their seperate ways. When Laura Grace told her mom that she and Jake had broken up, she just said "We'll see." In March of 2024, Jake reached out to see if Laura Grace would be willing to talk and find their way back to being friends. It just made sense! They still had the same friend group, it was just better for everyone this way. By May, those friends were once again wondering "Why won't they just admit it already?" This time, Laura Grace was the first one to crack. She was going to work at a camp all summer, and she had to tell him how she felt before she didn't see him until the fall semester. Luckily, he felt the same way. Jake and Laura Grace took things slow this time. They both knew if they got back together, it meant more than just a new relationship. This time, this was it. They were back together by October. In December, after Christmas Eve with her family, they looked at each other on the drive home and said what they both knew. This was their forever. On August 23rd, 2025, Jake got down on one knee and asked Laura Grace to marry him. After engagement parties with their family and friends, they couldn't stop smiling (and crying). They felt like the luckiest people on earth to have found each other twice. Jake and Laura Grace are getting married on April 18th, 2026. They will be living in Starkville with their 5 pets for the next two years, in the same neighborhood as their closest friends. He has accepted a position with WTVA as their Golden Triangle reporter, while she works at the West Point Clay County Animal Shelter. After that is a mystery, and they couldn't be more excited for the adventure ahead!
