FAQs and COVID 19

COVID 19 update - Hi friends and family! We are looking forward to celebrating in Mexico with you all in less than 2 months. We wanted to provide an update on COVID 19 and how we are handling the situation with our events so we can make it safe and comfortable for all. We are happy to say that the majority of our guests are fully vaccinated. If not vaccinated, you will need to provide a negative Covid test within 72 hours of our welcome event on Thursday, November 4th. If you are vaccinated, there is no need for a test. Feel free to reach out to Laura or Brian with any questions and also please let us know in advance if you will be submitting a negative test so we can keep track. Also, everyone traveling back to the United States is required to have a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 3 days before they board flight to the United States. We will be providing resources to book these tests ahead of time and at special rates so please check back in for updates. Thank you!
Question

What airport do I fly into?

Answer

Puerto Vallarta (PVR)

Question

How far is Sayulita from Puerto Vallarta Airport?

Answer

Sayulita is 35 miles north of Puerto Vallarta

Question

Do I Need Pesos or can I pay in USD or Credit Card?

Answer

We highly recommend you have pesos. Pesos are the currency that is accepted. Some places do take credit cards but not all. Did you know the best way to get pesos is from your local US bank? All banks carry pesos or can get them within two business days. Of course you can always take pesos out of the ATM. ALWAYS, avoid the ATM at the airport.

Question

Is the water safe to drink?

Answer

DO NOT DRINK THE TAP WATER!!! Only drink bottled water and only use bottled water to brush your teeth. Most rental homes/condos can provide bottled water for your stay. Also, be very careful when eating raw fruits and vegetables. You will need to soak them in Microdyn so they are safe to eat and cook. The restaurants and bars in Sayulita use purified water for drinking, washing produce, and the ice is made from purified water as well, so no need to be nervous about the ice in your margarita :-) Highly recommend taking charcoal pills during stay to flush toxins out.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

We want you to treat our wedding like you would a typical beach vacation with one night you’ll get dressed up for. Lots of sunscreen! Ladies- sundresses, shorts, tank tops, bathing suits, flip flops, and sandals. Men- shorts, tank tops, t-shirts, linen, collared shirt, short sleeve shirts, flip flops and sandals. The wedding attire is beach cocktail. Ceremony will be on the sand, reception on grass.

Question

Where are the bride and groom staying?

Answer

We will be staying at Casa Playa which is a beachfront home in the heart of Sayulita right next to Don Pedros Restaurant. We wanted to be in a central location to the downtown and on the south side of Sayulita towards the wedding venue.

Question

Do you have recommendations of places to stay?

Answer

Yes, we do and please check under the travel tab on this website. If you want to be in close proximity to downtown and events, look for hotels or houses in central Sayulita. If you want to find other accommodations, checkout Sayulita Life and Airbnb for house rentals. North side of Sayulita is much quieter. Central Sayulita and Gringo Hill will be closest areas to look for houses near events for the weekend.

Question

Childcare?

Answer

We are working on some options for childcare for those bringing children, so please let us know if you would like our help in setting that up. Also, here are some resources below: Sayulita Babysitting http://sayulitababysitting.com/ Sayulita Childcare https://www.sayulitalife.com/sayulita-childcare BeBe Rental Gear https://www.sayulitalife.com/bebe

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Kids are welcome for the weekend and will love Sayulita. The wedding celebration and welcome event is an adults only party and we will have information for babysitting available for you to book.

Question

Is Sayulita Safe?

Answer

Sayulita is very safe but like any destination, we recommend when imbibing to stay in groups (buddy system too) and use common sense! Don’t wander around the beach alone or go into the waves at night and pay mind to cars on the streets. Be careful of personal belongings in your lodging and when out and about.

Question

How do I get around Sayulita?

Answer

Sayulita is an extremely walkable town and a car is not needed. Golf carts are the primary way to get around and can be rented through most hotels / villas (or through below links). Otherwise taxi services are generally available but there are no ubers in Sayulita! http://townaround.com.mx/ http://www.pacificcoastgolfcars.com/

Question

Passports

Answer

Please make sure your passports are renewed. They are required for travel outside of the USA.

Question

What is the weather like?

Answer

Sayulita's location on the Central Pacific coast , hemmed in by jungle covered mountains gives it a sub-tropical climate with only two seasons- dry, warm winters (Nov-May) and hot, wet summers (June-Oct). The region averages 345 days of sunshine each year!! In November we can expect temperatures in the mid-80s and nightly lows in the upper-60s, but expect some humidity!

Question

Will I need a Covid test to get back into the US?

Answer

Yes and Yes. On January 12, 2021, CDC announced an Order requiring all air passengers arriving to the US from a foreign country to get tested no more than 3 days before their flight departs and to present the negative result or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 to the airline before boarding the flight. Air passengers will also be required to confirm that the information they present is true in the form of an attestation.

Question

Do you have recommended testing services?

Answer

Yes, for guests staying at Hotel Ysuri, testing can be set up through the hotel concierge and we have a discounted rate of around $60 a person. Rapid test results are available within 3-5 hours. We also highly recommend the Sayulita Covid Testing Center https://sayulitacovidtestingcenter.com/ . Appointments can be booked online. Options for testing at their location in downtown Sayulita or in-house/hotel testing for groups of 4 or more. We are working on a group booking link for this to have by early October. Testing is also available at the Puerto Vallarta airport as well.
