If you are flying internationally, we recommend arriving at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO), Rome’s main airport. From the airport, you can easily reach Rome’s main train station by taking the Leonardo Express, a direct, non-stop train to Roma Termini. The journey takes about 30 minutes, and trains run frequently throughout the day. From Roma Termini, you can then take a direct train to Orvieto.

From Roma Termini, you can take a direct train to Orvieto, no transfers needed. Travel time: about 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes Trains run frequently throughout the day (roughly every 1–2 hours) Look for: Regionale Veloce (RV) (most common & budget-friendly) Intercity (a bit faster and more comfortable) All trains arrive at Orvieto’s lower station (Orvieto Scalo), where you’ll then take the funicular up to the historic center.

All trains arrive at Orvieto Scalo, located at the base of the hill below the historic town (Orvieto). To reach the city center, you can take the Orvieto Funicular, a quick and scenic ride up to the top. For more details and additional transportation options, please visit the linked website.
