Thank you, Bumble! Troy and Laura "matched" in June 2020 and talked back and forth for two weeks. Troy invited Laura out to dinner at Taberna near Lake Bde Maka Ska. They quickly realized that Troy's best friend was about to marry a friend of Laura's from college, something that Laura thought "well, if he's friends with my friend, he must be a nice guy" (she later confirmed with her friend that he, in fact, was an "awesome guy"). After walking around the lake post-tacos, Troy asked Laura out on a second date. Laura said yes, they exchanged numbers, and a few days later they went paddle boarding together. For Laura, the third date was really when she started falling for Troy. He invited her over to his new home to grill, and [best of all] meet Lenny. Quickly after that, Troy and Laura spent almost every day together -- partially from the pandemic, but mostly because they were so excited to be together.

In 2020, Troy invited Laura up north to his family's annual trip to Lake Vermilion. After this trip, Laura had to drive home solo to get back to work. As soon as Laura got cell service, she called her mom and said, "Mom, I think I'm going to marry this guy". Fast forward to the next year, Laura and Troy made their way up to Lake Vermilion again. Little did Laura know that Troy had been doing some research and purchasing, an extremely well-kept secret with a small circle of people. Upon arriving, Troy asked Laura if she wanted to grab a drink on the dock. Laura thought this was pretty cute because it was exactly what they had done the year prior. After enjoying their drinks, Troy told Laura they should go get some ice for the cabin. After standing up, Troy said, "you see that dock over there? I helped put that in." Laura turned around to look, confused. As she turned back around, there Troy was on one knee with a gorgeous ring, and asked Laura to marry him. She was in absolute shock, only being able to say "what? Seriously? Oh my god". She gave him a kiss, and he said, "so, is that a yes?". We all know the answer to that one. Troy and Laura spent a fun-filled week up at Lake Vermilion with some of Troy's family, and then celebrated the engagement with Laura's immediate family right after returning!
