Tristin and Laura's story began in a way neither of them could have expected — through a simple Snapchat message. At the start of their junior year of high school, Tristin sent Laura a message that read, “Do I know you?” To which Laura replied, "Umm, I don't think so?" It turned out that she had added him a month earlier, and while Tristin was cleaning out his contacts, he decided to reach out. Neither of them knew it at the time, but that one message would set the course for the rest of their lives together. Although they lived an hour apart during high school, Tristin and Laura quickly realized they shared many of the same dreams, values, and passions. From the start, they connected on a deep level. Those early days of texting, late-night conversations, and weekend visits laid the foundation for a love that only grew stronger as time went on. When college began, they suddenly found themselves navigating a long-distance relationship. With Laura attending school three and a half hours away and Tristin adjusting to his own new experiences — including joining a fraternity — they both faced challenges in being apart. However, no matter how busy life got, they always made time for each other. Tristin spent countless hours on the road visiting Laura whenever he could, and she cherished every moment they had together. Their love was tested by distance, but instead of growing apart, they only became more certain that they were meant to be. As time went on, it became clear that they wanted to share more of life’s everyday moments together. After much reflection, Laura made the difficult decision to transfer to Kent State. While the move was largely because she felt out of place at Penn State, it also meant she and Tristin could share more of life’s everyday moments together. This new chapter wasn’t just about being closer — it was about Laura finding a place where she felt at home while continuing to grow in their relationship. Together, they embraced this transition, knowing that the best versions of themselves would come from being in a place where they both felt supported, fulfilled and at home. From the moment Tristin sent that first message to now, they have been through so much. They’ve faced challenges, celebrated milestones, and most importantly, they’ve grown together. When it came time to propose, Tristin knew he wanted to make it something unforgettable. He spent months secretly preparing, hiding the ring at Laura’s parents' house and getting her best friends in on the plan. Then, on a beautiful fall day at Laura’s favorite place — Guilford Lake — he took her on her family’s boat for what seemed like a regular outing. But little did she know, it was about to become the most memorable day of her life. As they enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, Tristin got down on one knee and asked Laura to spend forever with him. With her friends and family nearby to witness the moment, she said yes, marking the beginning of their next adventure together. As they look ahead to the future, they are ready to make more memories, chase their dreams, and build a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. They are incredibly grateful for the journey they’ve shared so far and can’t wait to see what comes next for them.
