Laura’s hairdresser, aka her therapist, suggested that she try the dating app “Bumble,” and while Laura had never gone down the dating app path before, she thought she’d give it the old college try. Lucky for her, at around the same time Travis’s coworker gave him the same advice… Laura was skeptical, and at one point thought, “this guy seems a little too good to be true,” but they agreed to have their first date between their two cities, in Wilsonville, Oregon. Travis paid for bowling. Travis paid for lunch. And Travis paid for movie tickets. All in one day. Being Portland born and bread, this was a first for Laura, and indeed she really thought Travis was too good to be true. He even told her, “Our children would have beautiful eyes,” after they both complimented each other’s eyes over lunch. Laura could have taken that one of two ways, thankfully she was smitten with him already so she didn’t think it was weird. One year later, Laura moved to Salem to live with Travis, and in the same week, the world went into a pandemic lockdown….one thing led to another and BOOM. A covid baby boom happened, and Laura and Travis would soon learn that indeed, they do make children with beautiful eyes.
