FAQs

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Parking is available on the grounds. Handicapped parking will also be available. There is a short walk to the ceremony and reception area. Most of the walking surfaces will not be paved.

Question

Is there transportation to and from the hotels to the ceremony?

Answer

We will not be providing transportation. But the area is well served by cab companies and services like Lyft and Uber. We encourage our guests to use alternative transportation if they will be drinking alcohol. We will be making a permanent life choice that day- we don't want you to make one, too!

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please let us know as soon as you can if you will be joining us (we hope you will say yes!)

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We encourage formal dress that you will be comfortable in during whatever weather November in Virginia throws at us. For our out of town guests, expect temperatures between 40 and 70. In case of inclement weather, tents and heaters will be onsite.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We will begin seating for the ceremony at 4.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes! Since this is a historic site and museum, children should be supervised by their guardians at all times. During the ceremony, we ask that all guests refrain from disruptive noises including sounds from electronic devices.

Question

Can I bring someone who wasn't invited?

Answer

We are looking forward to spending the day with each and every one of you. Please talk with us before bringing someone else to our wedding. While we do make mistakes, there may be a good reason why someone isn't coming.

Question

Wait, didn't you guys already get married?

Answer

Good catch! But this part is the party, which is arguably more important. Or at least more fun than going to the DMV to change your name.

Question

What if I object?

Answer

Too bad, we already did it.
