Wedding Update

Dear Friends and Family, We hope that you will be able to join us in celebrating our marriage on July 11, 2020 at First Evangelical Church. We have been monitoring the current situation. Please know that the safety and health of our guests is of the utmost importance. To ensure the safety and comfort of our guests, we ask that you practice social distancing. We are following guidelines set by the Shelby County health department and church elders. To ensure everyone’s safety, please arrive at the church with the group you would like to be seated with. We will make sure groups are properly socially distanced. Please be patient as we seat our guests in an orderly and safe manner. To abide with the church’s capacity regulations, admission will cease when the capacity is filled. Please know that if this occurs we would still love for you to join us at the Cadre building for our wedding reception. Though we would love for everyone to celebrate with us in person, we understand that these times do not allow everyone to do so comfortably. For those unable to join us in person, please join us in prayer over our wedding day and our marriage. Please check back for a livestream link so you will be able to join us virtually. We are so grateful for your support and understanding during this time. Bob Liddon & Laura Beth Knight

How We Met

Bob and I share best friends that are siblings, Lance and Sarah Minor. Bob grew up with Lance and they have been best friends throughout many stages of life. Sarah and I met in high school and became quick best friends! Over Christmas break, Bob went to the Minor's house to visit Lance, who was in town for the holidays. Mr. Minor, Lance, and Sarah were sitting around the kitchen table after Bob left. In the conversation Mr. Lance mentioned how he wanted to set Bob up with a nice girl. In the next hour, Sarah text me saying she had given my number to one of Lance's friends. Bob text me that evening. A week later Bob called and asked me to go to dinner. A few more dates came the weeks following. From there, we were pretty inseparable.

The Proposal

On December 22, Bob and I were ready for Christmas festivities. We attended the Lessons and Carols service at Second Presbyterian followed by a delicious brunch with his family. We discussed having dinner that evening and celebrating Christmas just the two of us. Bob came and picked me up and as my roommate would say, I was not making it easy for us to walk out the door. Still full from brunch and moving at snails pace, I finally made it out the door. Bob did not tell me where we were going. We started driving and I shouted out every restaurant in the general direction. He finally pulled into Shelby Farms and I immediately knew we were about to eat at Costal Seafood Company. I had been dropping hints about how we should go try the oysters there. We ate some yummy oysters. (Fun fact: Oysters are my favorite) I thought we were next headed home to exchange gifts. Bob pulled out of the restaurant into Shelby Farms. I began to worry because I could see we were about to be in the never ending Starry Nights Christmas lights traffic. Bob then pulled over and said let's go. At this point I did not know what was going on. We proceeded to walk to a horse drawn twinkle light carriage. I thought Bob was sick of hearing me ask to go to Starry nights and had finally caved in. As the horse pulls us through Starry Nights and I enjoy each and every twinkle lit moment. The horse stopped. I start panicking that something is wrong with the horse and telling Bob to watch out for the tractor and trailer behind us. Little did I know, the lights over my shoulder said 'Will You Marry Me?' Bob told me to turn around and look at the lights. At this point Bob got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said YES! We then went back to the Liddon's house and celebrated with some of our dearest friends and family!
