FAQs

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Both Indian formal and Western formal attire are welcome! If you’re interested in trying Indian clothing, men can look for kurta sets, while women might consider lehengas, sarees (pre-draped options are great for convenience), or salwar kameez. Here are a few websites to get you started: House of Indya Samyakk Lashkaraa Kalki Fashion Hatkay Etsy Facebook Marketplace If you go with Western formalwear, we encourage bold and colorful choices. Indian weddings are full of vibrant colors!

Question

Can I bring gifts to the wedding?

Answer

Your presence is the best gift! But if you'd like to give something, please send it to the address on our registry. Since we live in NYC, it's tough for us to travel back with physical gifts. We will have a box at the venue for cards if you'd like to bring one.

Question

I’ve never been to an Indian wedding. What should I expect?

Answer

Many Indian weddings are multi-day affairs, but our celebration will be condensed into a two-day extravaganza: Sangeet (Friday night): An outdoor party at Nayan and Kiran’s (Om’s sister and brother-in-law) home, featuring music, dance performances, and a taco truck! Baraat (Saturday): A joyful procession where the groom arrives with music and dancing. All guests are invited to join the fun as we parade around the venue before going inside for the wedding ceremony. Wedding Ceremony (Saturday): A Hindu ceremony lasting about an hour, filled with rituals that represent the joining of our families. There will be a printed program and live explanations in English to guide you through it. Cocktail Hour & Reception: Right after the ceremony, you’ll step into cocktail hour with drinks and appetizers while the ceremony space transforms into the reception hall for dinner and dancing.

Question

What kind of food will be served?

Answer

Dinner will be an Indian buffet featuring both meat and vegetarian options. Don’t worry - it won’t be too spicy! But there will be plenty of condiments for those who want to turn up the heat.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes! There’s plenty of free parking available on-site.

Question

Where should I stay? Do you have any hotel blocks?

Answer

Yes! We’ve reserved hotel blocks with discounted rates. Just click on the “Hotel Blocks” tab on our website for all the details and booking links. There are also lots of great Airbnb options nearby if you prefer.
