The word Sangeet means 'music', and among the traditional Indian pre-wedding rituals, the Sangeet night is when the celebration really get started! This event is a way to celebrate not only the couple's union, but also the bonding of their families. We are combining the Sangeet with the Mehendi function, which is traditionally a party where the bridal party and guests have henna applied. You can expect music, performances, dinner, and a lively dance floor. *Mehendi is optional for guests. Every Hindu wedding has the Haldi ceremony. Turmeric or Haldi is well known for its health and beauty benefits, but it also represents purity, peace, and a happy beginning. The paste is prepared and put into the skin of the bride & groom. It is believed that haldi has the power to protect the bride and groom from spirits and bring prosperity to the newlywed couple. Just like any other Indian ritual, the Haldi ceremony is meant to be celebrated with joy and color Toda boda hindú comienza con una ceremonia Haldi. You may have seen Indian wedding clips of a groom riding on a horse and may be wondering why is everyone dancing around? This is the first part of the wedding, Baraat. Historically, the groom, his family & friends would travel from their village, singing and dancing, to the bride's village. Groom is welcomed by the mom and the bride might also come out, but only if he's got the right moves! We hope that everyone join in the dancing as Nakul makes his way to Laura's balcony and to the ceremony! Puede que haya visto videos hindúes de un novio montado en un caballo y se pregunte por qué todos bailan alrededor. Es la primera parte de la boda: Baraat Históricamente, el novio, su familia y amigos viajaban desde su pueblo, cantando y bailando, hasta el pueblo de la novia. El novio es recibido por la madre y la novia también puede salir a dar la bienvenida, ¡pero solo si la impresiona con sus bailes! Esperamos que se unan al baile mientras Nakul se dirige al balcón de Laura y a la ceremonia!

After the Baraat, the Hindu wedding ceremony begins and everyone will be seated. A Hindu priest will officiate and he will recite verses in Sanskrit, but will also provide English & Spanish explanations of the rituals. The ceremony will involve Gujarati customs, as Nakul’s family is originally from the state of Gujarat in India. Después del Baraat, todos tomarán asiento para la ceremonia hindú. Un sacerdote hindú oficiará y recitará versos en sánscrito. Os facilitaremos un programa con explicaciones de los rituales en inglés y español. La ceremonia incluirá costumbres gujarati, ya que la familia de Nakul es originaria del estado de Gujarat en la India.

We will have cocktail hour and at 9pm dinner will be served. Please let us know your preferences when RVSP. Afterwards, put your dancing shoes on so we can party the night away under the starlights!
