In the summer of 2013, I was on my way to my new home from college in Wappingers Falls NY, where I didn’t know anyone besides my mom and dad. I really missed Rochester, my friends but most of all my siblings. Because of this, I went to the pool every day to read to help distract me from missing home. One day, I was at the pool reading 50 Shades of Grey for the third time when I looked across the pool and saw the male lifeguard reading the same book. I thought, “wow I’ve never heard of a guy reading this, I wonder what he thinks” and because I am not shy, I got up and walked over to the lifeguard to ask him. I walked over, signed my name on the pool check in book and asked “So what are you reading?” He was obviously embarrassed because I saw him trying to hide the fact that he was reading the same book as me, but I didn’t care, it was fun to see him uncomfortable. Well from that point on, we were inseparable. I would go to the pool every day and Michael would take me hiking and show me around my new home. Just as I was falling in love with my new home, I began to fall in love with Michael. Since then, we have adopted a cat named Jax, a dog named Lola, built a home and have been blessed with two beautiful daughters, Lena and Ella. This wedding is six plus years in the making and we are so happy that it is finally here.

On their 6 year anniversary December 10th, 2019, Michael and Laura were supposed to go see the Christmas light show and go to dinner. The light show was so important to them because 6 years prior, Michael asked Laura to be his girlfriend there. Christmas is Laura’s favorite time of the year and is a holiday that they love. On their way, Michael had to stop to get gas, and had to go to the bathroom, so he stopped at McDonald’s, he was stalling. Then he said to Laura, “Let’s go to the light show first in case they close early”. Laura was starving but she agreed, she figured it’d be quick. Once they arrived, Michael somehow knew the owners and they said “park your car and get out and walk, it’s so much better!” So they did and they were right, the lights were incredible. Laura walked right over to everyone and introduced herself and started talking away like she always does. Then Michael asked the owner Tim, “do you have any Taylor Swift on here?” And Tim said “Of course I do, she’s the best!” Laura then said “oh my god I love her so much! We go to her concerts! We’re Swifties!!” About 5 minutes later, Love Story by Taylor Swift came on and they were so excited. They went out and looked at the lights and when Taylor Swift sang the proposal, Michael got down on one knee and proposed to Laura, singing his heart out. As you know, her answer was, Yes!!!
