finally tying the knot!

Laura and Melvin met during an office party at John Jay College, where they were working as laboratory technicians. Laura saw Melvin getting a piece of cake and approached him, asking where he was from. He replied that he was of Guyanese descent and went on to define all what that meant - when she interrupted him to say that she was, too! They laughed it off then, but fast forward a bit over a year, they decided they could not forget each other...

"What's your story?", was the question Melvin asked Laura while working late in the chemistry laboratory technicians' office. This led to many other questions, outings, and eventually dates. Although Melvin had gotten into medical school in Arizona, Laura and he both found it worthwhile to test-drive their long-distance relationship in July of 2013. By his first visit home that November, Melvin made it his priority to ask Laura to officially continue their blossoming relationship on the 11th (hence their favorite hashtag #1111mL). She, of course, said yes. Fast forward through moves to California and in Arizona, Laura and Melvin made it back to New York, where it all began. With time flying while being her "darling" & her "honey" and being his "pretty lady" & his "love", Melvin proposed to Laura in June of 2019. She, of course, said yes once more. With 2021 underway, they cannot wait to celebrate when they both, of course, say "I Do" before all of you!
