We met when they were 13. Laura somehow looked the same then as now, while Matt looked 10 until he turned 16 years old. For years, Matt secretly crushed on Laura while she told everyone we were best friends. Then Matt "came back hot one summer" and finally, he had a chance. For 3 years, we dated. Things were great and we were happy. We graduated high school together, naively thinking our relationship would never end. We continued on long distance but regrettably, our lives drifted apart. Ultimately, we decided to go our separate ways. For 8 years, we didn't speak. Maybe a drunken text from Matt every so often, but otherwise, our high school relationship was a distant past to look back fondly on. Once again, our worlds collided, and this time it was Laura who took a chance. She texted Matt asking to get a drink. The problem was, Matt was moving to Austin in a month. Despite the hurdle, Matt jumped at the opportunity to re-kindle this great romance. Laura once again pretended not to notice Matt's interest beyond friendship. After a great date, Matt packed his bags and moved to Austin. As adults do, we communicated by sending memes back and forth for months. Eventually, Matt sent her the right combination of memes that convinced Laura to take a trip to Austin. After that first trip, they started planning trips every few weeks. Then COVID hit, and Laura stayed for months. Eventually, Laura stayed for good. During quarantine, we unexpectedly welcomed out first born, Comet. While definitely a surprise, we feel very blessed to have him in our lives. We love our family, life, and community we have built together. It has been an incredible adventure from start to finish
