Question

Will there be a ceremony?

Answer

Nope! We are already married so we don't need a ceremony. It will just be a reception. Come for the party!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Whatever you are comfortable wearing. It's outside in Colorado on a summer evening. It could be 85 degrees and sunny, or it could be raining. Likely it will be both, because Colorado. There is no dress code. In case that makes you nervous: think comfortable for dancing, shoes that can walk on gravel. Ladies will likely wear sundresses or other flowy dresses, jumpsuits, pantsuits, etc. Men can wear a tie if you feel the need but it's not expected AT ALL. The more comfortable you feel in your outfit, the more fun you will have. This is NOT a black tie affair. Unless you want to wear black tie, of course.

Question

How will I get to Mountainside Lodge?

Answer

We will hire a shuttle to bring folks from the main YMCA lodges to Mountainside Lodge and back, as it's 1.5 miles up a huge hill. As of now the shuttle will NOT go all the way to Estes Park (but will go to the YMCA annex and the neighborhood across the street from the YMCA). If you are staying in Estes Park, please reach out to Laura or Lewis and we will arrange for the shuttle to pick you up from where you are staying.

Question

Is it true there is wildlife at the YMCA?

Answer

Yep. The YMCA Estes Park is at 8,000+ feet and is right next door to Rocky Mountain National Park. There are deer, bears, moose, and others around. Don't worry, we will be making so much noise at the party nothing will dare come close. We don't recommend wandering around alone late at night without a flashlight though.

Question

What is the weather like in Estes Park?

Answer

The weather will likely be hot and dry with a good chance for big or small thunderstorms. Temperatures could be in the 60s or in the 90s Fahrenheit, or anywhere in between. At 8,000 feet of elevation, it's extremely easy to get dehydrated and sunburned. While very rare, altitude sickness is possible for those coming from sea level. Some might choose to stay in Denver for a day or two to acclimatize to the elevation.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Absolutely. There are over 30 children invited to this shindig. We will have a babysitter or 3 at the Mountainside Lodge during the reception so parents can party. The lodge is 50 feet from the pavilion, so parents can easily check in on kiddos. Likewise, kids are welcome to join for the food and dancing if they want.
