FAQs

Question

Do I have to get any vaccines?

Answer

Recommended vaccines for Colombia include Hepatitis A, polio, and typhoid, while the yellow fever vaccine may be required depending on your travel plans and is not recommended for certain cities. Please contact your doctor with questions. Cali is not in the jungle, and August normally doesn't have any mosquito outbreaks

Question

Is it dangerous to go to Cali?

Answer

In 2025, Cali is not in the top 20 of more dangerous cities. It is safer than some places in the US, like Baltimore and St louis (which are among the top 30 most dangerous cities in the world). We do recommend following the instructions we will provide later, and exploring only with a Colombian person or a Spanish speaker. Some places are safe for everyone, we just want to be cautious!

Question

What transportation should we use?

Answer

It is really hard to drive in Colombia. If you are really patient and are ok with 300 motorcycles next to your car, you can rent a car that has insurance. I do NOT recommend driving. Uber is cheap and a safer option. Do NOT use a Moto-taxi. We will also rent small buses for activities we might do together outside the city.

Question

What things are we going to do other than the wedding?

Answer

We will go to eat at traditional places, taste fruits, go to the river, and dance. Be prepared to have fun and to see beautiful tropical places!

Question

Gifts

Answer

If you are thinking about gifts, please know that it might be hard for us to travel with a lot of things. Your presence is the greatest gift, but if you wish to give a gift, a contribution to our honeymoon/future family plans would be greatly appreciated.
