Unbeknownst to each other, Laura and Joe moved to Nashville, TN at the same time, in Fall 2016. After graduating from University of Farmington, Joe was asked, by his friend Ryan, if he wanted to spend a year away from Maine and explore what was next for each of them. Joe agreed, and the two of them set off for Nashville. He got hired at a bar on Broadway, (the "main" strip) called Crossroads. His nights would consist of working the door as security, listening to live music, people watching, and determining when someone had too much to drink...which was quite often on Broadway. It was a great way for him to get to know the city and pushed him out of his comfort zone, to meet new people in a brand new city. After realizing the "dream job" wasn't the right path for her, Laura moved from Portland, OR back to her parents home in WA. Feeling a little lost, Laura took a trip to reunite with her college besties, Jessica and Lauren. Jessica lived in Nashville, TN, so the girls decided to meet there. After this trip, she chose to delay her grad school plans for a year and move to this incredible place, that brought her joy. When Laura arrived in Nashville, Jessica introduced her to the world of live country music. Together, they would go to shows at the Ryman, right off the Broadway strip. Sometimes, they would head down to listen to some late night sets at the bars, after the concert was over. One of those night ended in a girl from Washington state, "confidently" asking a boy from Maine for his number. His response..."I think you just did". One could say these two found love at a crossroads...(get it?) Fast forward 7 years, Laura and Joe still laugh about their first date. Joe chose an Italian restaurant, which he later found out Laura is allergic to everything delicious at an Italian restaurant. Thankfully the restaurant was full and they ended up at a Mexican restaurant, stuffing their faces with guacamole...Laura's absolute favorite food. To this day, that date was one of the funnest nights in Nashville that the two had during their time there. Nashville will always have a special place in Laura and Joe's story. It's almost like someone wrote a song about them, finding "love in a bar". If you know these two well, you know that their love for each other comes with humor, lots of sarcasm, and debates over whether Patagonia or LL Bean should be the superior brand in their relationship. If you hardly know these two, but have talked to them for at least 5 seconds, then you know their greatest love is their dog, Sulley.
