Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Laura Baquerizo and Jesse Rickard
In case you have a few moments between all the celebrating... the bride and groom wanted to share a few of their favorite local places and activity recommendations with you!
Sausalito Boardwalk

Sausalito Boardwalk

525 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965

Sausalito sits on the water with sweeping views of the San Francisco skyline. The houseboat community on Bridgeway is a quirky leftover from post-WWII bohemian days—worth a stroll or bike ride to check out the colorful floating homes. Downtown Sausalito is lined with art galleries, boutiques, and seafood restaurants right on the boardwalk. One of Laura and Jesse's favorite "splurge" date nights involves an Uber to Downtown Sausalito, a delicious meal at the Barrelhouse Tavern or the historic bay-front Trident restaurant, and a night-cap at the local dive-bar "Smitty's".

The Hummingbird

The Hummingbird

57 Broadway, Fairfax, CA 94930

Looking for a place to grab breakfast after a long night of festivities? The happy couple recommend a trip to the town of Fairfax for a meal at The Hummingbird diner, where Southern charm meets culinary brilliance. This women-owned eatery specializes in breakfast and brunch, offering a delightful array of Cajun and Creole dishes, from classic shrimp and grits to their signature gumbo that tells a rich story of diverse cultures. During Mardi Gras season, The Hummingbird serves King cake, a traditional New Orleans pastry. A small plastic baby, symbolizing the baby Jesus, is hidden inside the cake. The person who finds the baby in their slice is said to be lucky for the year, and is tasked with hosting the next Mardi Gras celebration and providing the next King cake. In February 2024, Jesse and Laura found "the baby" (shown in photo) in the slice of King cake they were sharing at The Hummingbird. See you at the next Mardi Gras! Please note that this is a CASH-ONLY restaurant.

Sunday Marin Farmers' Market

Sunday Marin Farmers' Market

3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael, CA 94903

When Jesse and Laura aren't exploring new local restaurants, one of their favorite activities is to shop for ingredients together and cook a nice meal at home. With over 150 year-round vendors, the Sunday Marin Farmers Market is the third largest weekly market in California. You’ll find plenty of organic produce (including some unusual varieties—have you ever had a Lemonade Lemon?), plus grass-fed meats, hand-crafted baked goods, and even local artisans. While it’s a popular destination for grocery shoppers and professional chefs alike, you can also snatch up dim sum, sandwiches, or other prepared foods for a lovely lunch al fresco.

the shack.

the shack.

236 Magnolia Avenue, Larkspur, CA 94939

Tucked under the redwoods on the edge of downtown Larkspur, this ice cream parlor serves traditional scoops, shakes and floats. There are 12 flavors to choose from, including vanilla and chocolate, blue moon and birthday cake, oat milk vanilla and raspberry lemon Italian ice (both vegan). The Shack is Jesse and Laura's favorite neighborhood sweet-treat destination.

Marin French Cheese Co.

Marin French Cheese Co.

The bride's most favorite food- cheese! Marin French Cheese Co. has been making handmade artisan cheese at their historic creamery in Marin County, Northern California since 1865, making it the country’s oldest cheese company. They combine traditional French cheesemaking techniques with an innovative spirit to produce award-winning, California original cheeses.
