Laura and Eliott met in 2017 while they both worked at Harmony Pet Clinic. The two of them bonded while taking care of dozens of dogs in the doggy day care and boarding. They had lots of time together to get to know each other, surrounded by some amazing dogs. As time went on, the two of them began to socialize outside of work. They first gathered in larger groups until Laura asked Eliott to get milkshakes with her at Kopp's one afternoon. From then their friendship blossomed into a relationship, and they fell in love with each other while continuing to have a shared passion for animals along the way.

Laura and Eliott host an annual "ugly-ornament" holiday party. The theme for their 2020 party was Merry Cheesemas. Every guest brought a cheese to share, and everyone rated the cheeses that they tasted. Laura and Eliott broke away from the party to calculate the scores. During this private moment alone, Eliott told Laura how all of her planning and preparing for the party had paid off, and how much he admired how hard she works. Telling her how much he had fallen in love with her during their three years together, Eliott got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. The couple was able to announce the news and celebrate the night away with their friends and family.
