Why We're Celebrating

We were seeking Christ and desired a church and faith to worship in. After many years, we found St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in March 2024. We spent a couple of months attending and learning about the Liturgy, faith, and community before realizing this truly is where God is calling us into a deeper relationship with him. The traditions of the Orthodox faith and tight-knit, but welcoming, community at St. John's drew us in further with each visit. We quickly became friends with other parishioners, were known personally by the priest, Father Stavros, and had a large community of people who were praying for and helping us along this journey. We've also met many other young couples who converted to Orthodoxy in the last year or two, discovering that our journey is not uncommon and the church is experiencing rapid, beautiful growth! In August, Laura began receiving Communion at the church. In October, Dan received the sacraments of Baptism and Chrismation, being fully welcomed into the faith, sharing the moment with Laura and his Koumbaro (sponsor), Markos. Father Stavros invited us to join the Church Expansion Board, where we joyfully accepted and have now become a critical part of the future of our church. With roles varying across finance, administrative work, marketing, and communications, we feel that God has called us to partake in something far greater than ourselves that will outlive us and our children. As our little family grows from two to three, we are blessed to know that our baby will be raised in a Christian faith, surrounded by good people who value and encourage a relationship with Christ. The Orthodox faith has brought us closer to Christ in all aspects of life and we are overjoyed to celebrate the beautiful Orthodox sacrament of Marriage with you all.

A Note on the 'Registry' tab

Please do not feel obligated to get us anything for this event in our lives. I cannot remove that tab from the webpage for some reason. Our only hope is that you are able to be present with us as we bless our marriage in the Orthodox faith.
