How we met

The Old Fashioned Way - Online

Both weary from the slog of online dating, we agreed to yet another encounter with a perfect stranger at the Native Hostel in East Austin (just for a drink!) Needless to say, it went much better than expected. Our second date was a golf outing at Lions-Muny later followed by Barton Springs and other Austin staples. Ask Cy about his belly flop strategy - it worked like a charm.

Our COVID Wedding

The party must go on!

As y'all know, we both love a reason to cut a rug and have fun with friends and family! Since we don't know how feasible a large gathering will be in the near future, we are opting for a small outdoor affair by taking advantage of Central Park. Just a little New York City wedding...in the winter...during a pandemic. Our wedding motto: Mask Up! Bundle Up! Giddy Up! While we are keeping the party very small to help reduce risk for our guests and loved ones, we would LOVE for you to join us via zoom from the comfort of your homes. Have a glass ready to raise a toast!

Wild Ride

Never a Dull Moment

We had been dating five months when Laura got the offer from NYU. Cy had never been to New York City. It was a pivotal moment but when you have a good feeling...you take the leap. Moving 1700 miles away, piling into a 600 square-foot apartment, starting new jobs, getting settled, moving back to Texas during a pandemic...and then back....it has been a LOT. But we made it. And laughed and loved each other every step of the way. It's no surprise that our wedding will also be a little hectic. It's how we roll.

The Proposal

He made a "splash"

Cy had a work trip in Rochester and Laura, never wanting a chance to see some new part of the state, planned to tag along and work remotely. About a week before the trip, realizing that they had been in the same small apartment nonstop for 2 months...Laura suggested she stay back and they enjoy a little solitude. Not missing a beat, Cy reminded Laura that he had never been to Niagara Falls and that's not something one wants to do alone. Sigh. "Fine...I'll go." Laura's glad she did and didn't act like a total pill. As they approached the falls and under the roar of the water, Cy got down on one knee and proposed to "an Eskimo". Fortunately he found a tech-savvy teenager to capture the moment. Laura said yes. After the joy of engagement for about a week, they decided that getting married outdoors in New York would be another fun adventure. But they would have to boogie get it done before returning to Texas for the holidays. Hence the 2 weeks notice!

Registries & Stuff

Your presence is our gift!

We find ourselves fortunate to have all we need in life. And not to mention, little space to put much else. So we do NOT need or expect gifts! Especially since you're paying for your own open bar for the party :) But if gifts are your love language, we suggest a donation to your favorite cause in our honor. And if that still doesn't cut it for you and it will make you nutty without sending something, we made a small list of ideas. www.zola.com/registry/lauraandcy
