While we were both deep in our doctoral studies — Cody working toward his Doctor of Dental Surgery and I toward my Doctor of Medicine — fate brought us together through Bumble. We were each looking for someone to pull us out of the library and into something a little more exciting. Our first date, back in 2018, was the perfect mix of fun and simplicity: a night at Top Golf followed by dinner at Applebee’s. From that night on, we’ve been inseparable. Since then, we’ve shared countless adventures, made it through a pandemic, tackled a cross-country move, and faced the challenges of general surgery residency — and through it all, our love and commitment have only grown stronger. Cody proposed in the Bahamas on May 6, 2024 — with the help of one of my favorite animals: a dolphin. It was magical, meaningful, and so perfectly us.
