Freedom Park
One of our favorite parks in Charlotte to come walk our pup Tater, have a picnic by the pond, or do yoga at the pavilion on Saturday mornings. May look familiar from our engagement photos!
South End
Our first landing spot in Charlotte was in the South End neighborhood! It's a great redeveloped area right outside of Uptown full of coffee shops, restaurants, breweries and a Rail Trail which is a great walking/running/scootering path alongside the city's Light Rail. Some of our favorite places are: Lincoln's Haberdashery - A frequent breakfast and lunch spot that has some spunk. Great pastries and sandwich's. Superica - the best Tex-Mex in town & serves breakfast. Located in the Design Center area which is a fun place to walk around. O-ku - if you suddenly have a sushi craving, go here. Not Just Coffee - casual coffee shop with amazing seasonal lattes and a delicious biscuit with ricotta & jam on weekend mornings.
Charlotte breweries
Charlotte is home to a ton of local breweries! Check out some of our favorites- Wooden Robot - South End location is a frequent of ours after work or on the weekends. Laura loves their Good Morning Vietnam coffee lager! Devil’s Logic - the first brewery we visited in town, has a rooftop with an awesome view of the city (and yoga on Saturday mornings!) Resident Culture - right down the street from us so we like to come here with Tater. Large outdoor tented area to enjoy your brews! Legion Brewing - Plaza or Southpark locations. Friends & beer is the motto at this brewery which we love.
Plaza Midwood
The neighborhood we live in! There are tons of great spots in the area. If you want a heartier meal after the welcome event, make a reservation at one of our favorite spots: Calle Sol - Latin food with amazing ceviche, our favorite restaurant in town! The Workman's Friend - Irish Pub with the best chips (aka fries) in the city Supperland - One of Charlotte's hottest new restaurants housed in a converted church Bistro La Bon - Amazing small shared plates with eclectic décor Emmy Squared - Well known NYC restaurant that serves Detroit-style pizza If you are staying at an Airbnb in this part of town check out The Giddy Goat or Undercurrent for your morning coffee and stroll around The Plaza!
