In 2007 we met working at HEB. We enjoyed our time together hanging out and going with friends, as young 20 something year olds do. Through years of laughs and dancing, we stayed friends and lived on in our different lives. 10 years later we reconnected over wings and beer. With out knowing this was the first night of our future.
Through our early months of dating I had no idea we would grow into who we are today. From a young 19 year old figuring out life to the person I am today. Even though we met years ago we reconnected as old friends. Laura was my friend before Aidan. Laura has always been special to me. I always believed the reason why was because of the beautiful person she is. I didn’t know it was because we were going to be more one day. As each passing year of our relationship grew stronger our life grew. Laura became Mom and I Mommy. She is the best partner I could ask for in life, love and parenting. Now all these years down the line and we still learn from each other and will continue to learn and grow as we go through every stage in life.
In 2022 I began thinking of what I wanted my proposal to look like, I knew I wanted to ask April to marry me but I had no clue of where, when and how. So I had some work to do … I was watching videos on YouTube and Tik Tok of other couples proposals to get ideas when April was not around. Through all these videos I realized, I had to make this moment special for April. My proposal didn’t have to be extravagant it had to be thoughtful because in the end, that’s all that matters to April, creating a memory is what was important. April loves sunsets, we had spent many days on our various trips chasing sunsets but were never successful due to timing and the weather. I knew I had to catch a sunset for her. In the beginning of 2023 I started saving money to purchase her engagement ring. Summer came along and we were planning a trip to California for October and I knew that would be the perfect time. September came along, I picked out a ring that I hoped she love and shared my plans with April’s cousin Jessie. If I was going to make this happen on our Cali trip, I would need Jessie’s help. We flew out to California without a concrete plan, I was set on proposing during a sunset but knew I had to be flexible on when and where. Friday October 20,2023, we made our way down to Malibu to catch a sunset before going to a pumpkin patch. On our way, April told us countless times we didn’t have to see the sunset that day but I was determined to make it happen as that day was our anniversary. After convincing her over and over again, having dinner because April and Aidan were hungry, and Jessie forcing her to pull over at a nearby pier. I proposed to April with perhaps the most beautiful sunset we had ever seen while in California.
