Like so many good love stories, ours began over happy hour! (Though not quite as you are probably imagining.) It was our 2016 Navy/Marine Corps deployment and we were aboard the USS Boxer, in blue waters, sailing west. No booze for happy hour in our story, just a deck of cards and some friends. We were on the night shift, standing "alert" for night flight operations. We first tried our hands at partnership - over games of Spades. We'd stay up all night playing cards and when we couldn't wrangle any others to play, we'd stay up talking. The nights usually ended with morning reveille and breakfast. From then on, all points (in spades and life) earned and lost, we'd count as "OUR" points.
After only a week on the night page together, we spent the remainder of that deployment on separate ships. We continued to court the only way possible - snail mail and Facebook Messenger (light!) during odd hours when ship's internet could support. We took a major leap of faith, despite heed of warning, and decided to move in together upon our return to San Diego. We'd fallen in love over stolen glances, a handwritten note left under a door, and long distance chats. We were elated at the prospect of a life partner to share life's bounty and adventures with. Together we coined our own motto and vowed, together, to "get too much." And so we have. We're absolutely in love with our little Ohana we've built together and the blessings and opportunities God has granted thus far. Our hearts are full. We are so excited to have you, our beloved support team, join us for this little adventure called a wedding and continue beside us in love through our lifetime marriage. With love, Laura and Anthony
