Yes, that's right, Hunter used this clever pickup line when we were introduced at Coachella in 2013 by our mutual friend... and this is where our adventure begins!

A few weeks after we moved down to Costa Mesa from Marina del Rey, Hunter planned a 6 mile run along the Newport Beach peninsula to one of his favorite spots- the Wedge. Laura was totally stoked because Hunter never initiates a long run, so she wanted to take advantage of this rare occasion. Hunter had perfectly timed the run so that we would arrive by sunset. Laura (being punctually challenged) was running a few minutes late and we departed about 10 minutes behind Hunter’s schedule. Every minute was crucial, unbeknownst to Laura, so the second we got out the door Hunter took off running at record speed. He was running so fast that Laura started to cramp up and suggested we stop a few times, but Hunter was determined to get to the Wedge by sunset. We arrived just as the sun dipped below the horizon and the sky was magical so Laura started to take pictures. Hunter was panting so hard he could barely talk and then he dropped to one knee. At first, Laura thought he was going to faint from overexertion, and then realized he was holding out a beautiful ring. Then he asked the big question and of course she said “Yes!”…but that was not the only surprise… Hunter had arranged for a photographer to capture this special moment, hence why we needed to arrive by sunset. The photographer had discretely taken candid photos of the entire proposal. Hunter managed to completely surprise Laura, which is not an easy task, but he successfully pulled it off and now we have pictures of our proposal that we will cherish forever!
