Chapter One

Before the Wedding

The moments that you remember when you were little are ones that usually consist of running around, having picnics in the nature and exploring every part of a place that you are in. Our story is just like that.
We started with a phone call that turned into a walk with a scroll of purpose filled questions which then led to a hike where we held hands, danced at the top and hiked back in the dusk. Every date was more charming than the next. From our first kiss at the farm to the proposal by the delicate arch in Moab.

When we looked up our zodiac signs, we were destined to not be a pair. That made us want to prove to the world that being so different, we actually make the most wonderful and strong team together. We chose to get married to show our commitment to one another that we will eternally share. Also, we love each other. We love each other at our worst, at our best and in between.

Our story is only beginning. The next steps of our journey are going to include a lot of trust, faith and courage. We are going one step at a time, praying our way through! We definitely see BIG goals in the future of helping a lot of people.

We are grateful for everyone who enters our life and joins us (even for a small time) on our adventure!

Chapter Two

Utah

We went out to Utah for the leave and cleave. We took only the things that fit in our Subarus and left. We designed our apartment with the decorations we used for our wedding, we bought our first mattress and Calvin built us a couch! In Utah we spent time together learning, adventuring, talking, cooking and hiking. We truly learned the aspect of unity with adventure. We started a new hobby of split boarding, enjoyed an intensive 10 week Bible study about spiritual gifts and we explored some of the big national parks. Zion was our favorite! Along with some secret hot springs we enjoyed every other Thursday.

Chapter Three

Home in May

May started off great. We were enjoying being home with family, excited for Calvin’s many jobs he promised his clients, excited for me to finish my Instrument Rating and super excited for our Tiny House. Our plans took a turn, Calvin’s sisters place was a part of a fire. She was instantly moving to Tennessee. Which turned out to be a blessing because we got to spend a lovely week with her before she joined her fiancé a crossed the country. Later in the month my dad went to the hospital for emergency brain “cleaning”. The blessing we found was how much time my brother got to spend with my dad and how my dads positive and curious mindset shook doctors and faith showed miracles in his recovery throughout the summer. We learned that there are reasons for everything in life. If you take time to reflect you can always find the blessing in the situation you wish didn’t happen.

Chapter Four

Tiny Doug

As spring begins our house building comes to an end. We built our tiny house with our hands with some help from family and friends. We are grateful for the season of building and being with our families. We learned a lot about communication of how to really push each others buttons and how to care and love each other. Seeing the end result and knowing that we started with a moving van trailer amazes me. Tiny Doug looks like a home now. We are excited for our next journey. Calvin and I left April 14th to refresh our souls and see our friends (not all but some) before traveling North. We looked at property in Missoula, Kalispell, Kila, Lakeside and Whitefish Montana. We visited Glacier National Park which was completely breathtaking. We then went West over to Sandpoint, Idaho. We met many pilots and locals that brought smiles to our faces. Now its time to celebrate the build of Tiny Doug with a first Housewarming Party! We will have a bigger one when we move our tiny house on our official piece of land.
