Our Chain of Lakes is a destination in and of itself. If you want lake time during your stay, we highly recommend staying here (see the travel page for more information). The water is some of the clearest and cleanest anywhere. Swimming, kayaking, canoing, boating, and other water activities keep us entertained all summer long! We will also be hosting a lake day event on Sunday, June 25th at the waterfront of Pine Point Lodge on Eagle Lake.
Featured (twice!) on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives! The Diner is a throwback to old school east coast diners. Kyle's favorite menu item is Pedro's Mexican Benny, and Laura likes trying the Blue Plate Speacials and recommends the PBLT for a lunch option. They also have amazing fried cheese curds!

A small brewery in Iron River.
Bayfield is a cute, little town with lots of shops and restaurants. It sits on the shore of Lake Superior. It can be a full day in and of itself but it is also the launching area to go explore Madeline Island or the other Apostle Islands.
The Apostle Islands are a series of 22 islands in Lake Superior. There are many ways to explore these islands, including cruises, guided kayak tours, and hiking along the shoreline. The cruises take several thematic routes with different points of interest, such as sea caves, shipwrecks, and some of the best lighthouses of Wisconsin. If you really want to experience what the Apostle islands have to offer, we recommend the guided kayak sea cave tours.
Madeline Island is the largest and most visited island of the Apostle Islands. There is a ferry that runs regularly from Bayfield. You are allowed to bring your car on the ferry, but you really don't need it. The shops, restaurants, and sites are all in walking distance from the ferry landing.
The town of Ashland is about a 30 minute drive from the wedding venue. It is the heart of the Chequamegon Bay and is a haven for anyone who loves the outdoors. Big Lake fishing, swimming beaches, natural springs, and a lake walk are just some of the highlights. Additionally, enjoy Ashland's Mural Walk which features over 20 life-size murals depicting history and people of the Northland.
Duluth is a great day trip from Iron River. It has a great lake front area (Canal Park) and lots of things to see and do. It is just over an hour drive from the Pike Lake Chain. If you want a great view of Lake Superior and the city of Duluth, go to Enger Tower. You can also take a drive up the north shore (All the way to Canada!) It is really beautiful.
A scenic park with walking trails and waterfalls.
Pattison State Park has has the biggest waterfall in Wisconsin. It has beautiful walking trails and swimming areas.
The Brule River is about 30 minutes from the wedding venue. There are multiple excursions you can take down the Brule as it flows from south to north where it empties into Lake Superior.
Small venue, big talent. The Big Top is a favorite for locals and tourists alike. It is a small venue set under a tent at the base of a ski hill near Bayfield. The talent at this venue is incredible. They bring in well known groups from all over and their house shows are really special. Check back on this link as they will start booking shows in the winter and then will regularly add shows for the 2023 season.
