How We Met

Bowmanville

We first crossed paths in Bowmanville at my sister’s house in 2023, just a simple hello, nothing more. We met again at her birthday party in 2024, another quick greeting, still unaware of what was coming. Then December rolled around, and I hosted Christmas dinner. My sister invited her friend, who invited his friend… and that friend turned out to be Sherwayne. The night was full of food, Cherokee, games, and laughter that felt easy and familiar. When everyone was getting ready to leave, he walked up to me and said softly, “I like your vibe, and I’d like to get to know you.” I was caught off guard, he had been quiet at first, but throughout the night he showed this warm, confident energy. And when he sang one of my favourite songs, “Soul Provider” by Romain Virgo, I swear the whole room disappeared for a moment lol. Still surprised, I told him to get my number from his friend. When I didn’t hear from him, I let it go. But when I told my sister what happened, she was thrilled and made sure my number got to him. The very next day, I received a message: “Hey hon, how are you? This is Sherwayne.” I replied, and from that moment in December 2024, we haven’t stopped talking. What started as two simple hellos turned into something we never expected and everything we didn’t know we needed.
