Castle rooms range approximately £210.00 - £275.00 per night ($268 - $350). Flights average around $700 - $1500 per person Hotel and Airbnb's are comparable to those in the US. If you have additional questions, please reach out to Jess or Jen.
The short answer is YES. Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is a digital permit that allows people to travel to the United Kingdom without a visa. It's required for short-term visits, such as tourism, business, or family visits. How much it costs: It costs £10 to apply. Everyone travelling needs to get an ETA, including babies and children. You can apply for other people. You cannot get a refund after you apply. Before you start you need: The passport you will travel with - not a photocopy or digital passport, access to your emails and a credit card, debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You will need to upload or take photos of: Passport and face of the person applying. You do not need to enter your travel details. Edinbugh Airport (EDI)
You can take the tram, bus, taxi or uber. Some hotels/stays include a shuttle to the airport. So be sure to check that out! Car rentals are also available but note that you will be driving on the opposite side of the road! The city is very walkable but also has many taxis, buses and trains! Uber is another great option for travel in Edinburgh. If you have never used uber before, here is a how to: https://www.uber.com/us/en/ride/how-it-works/
You will need a valid passport that will not expire within 6 months of traveling to Scotland. Please ensure that your passport is up to date as it could take 4-6 weeks to get your new one. 43°-55° F or 5°-12° C It is likely to be rainy and windy. So, bring items to keep you warm and dry. The leaves should be changing color at this point in the year and there will be warm fireplaces in the castle!
On the day of the wedding: We are asking each person to dress in black and choose one item of your outfit to be a single color. For example, an all-black dress with a blue handbag, a black shirt and black kilt with yellow shoes, or a black suit with a green tie. Other than that, wear what you are comfortable in! Also, plan for the weather! It could be rainy and chilly this time of year. If you have questions, reach out to Jen or Jess.
Many of our guests plan to arrive before the wedding or extend their trip afterwards. We have the castle for 10/7 - 10/9. If you plan to arrive early or extend your stay, please do! Just be sure to book your additional hotel or accommodations in advance. Jess and Jen will be arriving early and staying in Edinburgh.
Power adapters and plug-in's are different in the UK. Please ensure you have the right adapters (Type-G) for the UK. If you plan to go elsewhere in Europe, you will need a different adapter type. Need to buy one? Simply search for US to UK Plug Adapter, TESSAN Type G Travel Converter on Amazon.

You can check in at 3pm on 10/7 and check out by 11am on 10/9.
We kindly ask that guests cover the cost of travel and pay for their room at the castle. Everything else is taken care during your stay at the castle.
We will be offering transportation from the castle on 10/9 back to Edinburgh via a red bus. Think iconic UK double decker bus transportation! If you are interested in taking the bus, please say so when you RSVP. We are looking to gage interest.
The GBP, or Great British Pound, is the local currency in Scotland. The exchange rate is currently 1.00£ to 1.27 USD Your credit and debit cards should work overseas, but we highly recommend checking out potential foreign transaction fees and informing your banks that you will be traveling.
