His I first met Sarah Rose in 2022 in San Clemente through mutual friends. We went out to dinner as a group and I remember thinking she was beautiful, kind and carried herself with a sweetness and maturity that stood out. At the time, we were in completely different seasons of life and other relationships, so the timing wasn’t right. Looking back now, I can see God was already weaving our paths together. Everything changed Memorial Day Weekend last year. It was the first time we saw each other while both single and something instantly clicked. Our first date was at Windansea Beach in La Jolla, where we sat on a rock for hours talking, laughing and getting knocked around by the waves. It felt effortless, like we’d known each other forever. Somewhere during that date, watching her laugh and smile on the beach, I knew I was going to marry her. From the start, our relationship felt aligned in all the ways that mattered. We share the same faith, values and vision for the future. Though we’ve been long distance our entire relationship, it’s only made me love and appreciate her more. Some of my favorite memories are the simplest ones—sitting on the Fergusons’ couch for hours talking about life, childhoods and dreams. The Fergusons’ house became especially meaningful to us. It’s where we had our first kiss, where I asked her to be my girlfriend and where we first said “I love you.” So when it came time to propose, I knew there was no better place. Surrounded by our closest friends and family, I asked her to marry me right where so many milestones had already happened. Even now, we make time every day to stay connected despite the distance. We fit together perfectly, always laughing, supporting one another and loving each other’s quirks. I’m most excited to build a family with her and a life rooted in faith, love and purpose. If our story were a movie, it would be a rom-com about two people who were always meant to end up together—they just had to wait for God’s timing. And now, that time is here. Hers Our story began 3 years ago in California during a visit to see my best friend and honorary sister, Shelby, who had just married one of Mike’s best friends from the Marines. What started as a simple trip quickly became the beginning of our forever story. From the start I always thought highly of Mike, even before anything romantic began I could just tell he was a good person. We stayed connected from afar through Shelby and her husband, Chris, unaware of what the Lord had planned. About a year ago, everything changed and we saw each other in a new way. Our first real date is one I’ll never forget—Mike gave me a stick-shift lesson in his Jeep (bold choice), followed by a spontaneous polar plunge at my favorite beach. We spent hours talking and laughing by the coast, and I realized I could fully be myself with him. When I flew home that trip I had a feeling like I forgot something, now I see I had left a piece of my heart with him. In November 2025, Mike proposed at the Fergusons’ house—the place where we shared our first kiss, first “I love you” and so many special moments. With help from Shelby, my mom and others, he planned a proposal that was sweet, simple and perfectly us. I was completely surprised and said yes without hesitation! My favorite part of being engaged is knowing we’re officially on the road to our forever. I’m most excited to share life’s little moments, grow in love and one day start a family together. After being long distance our entire relationship, I can’t wait to plant roots and build a life side by side. As we prepare for a day that will be timeless and romantic, we are deeply grateful for everyone who has loved and supported us. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with you.
