We are so excited to celebrate with you. Find all the details you need to know about our big day here.
The first time Anna and Dan laid eyes on each other was in the spring of 2016 at a water ski function in Madison, WI. Dan was doing mental math problems with other skiers when Anna confidently stepped up to him and said “I’ve got this, I am a math major.” She in fact did not have it, but, Dan admired the tenacity and enthusiasm in Anna. They remained acquaintances until the spring of 2018 when Anna was once again in Madison and insisted on buying Dan a gin and tonic. Dan asked Anna if she could order a double, to which she playfully replied “I don’t answer stupid questions.” Dan was smitten. With Anna working as an Actuary in Chicago, he thought this might be a good start to a relationship as he finished his degree in Chemical Engineering. However, Anna was actually moving to Nashville, TN to try out a new city to live in and do more waterskiing. She invited Dan to come visit and, of course, water ski at the nearby lake, Swerve Watersports. She did this without much thought that he would actually drive 12 hours from Wisconsin for a weekend trip. What Anna didn’t know was how bored an engineer on co-op at a paper mill was. So he packed up his water skis and took off to Nashville. A first date at Hattie B’s Hot Chicken was the blossoming of their relationship. They skied their way between Tennessee and Wisconsin all summer. The first 2.5 years of their relationship was spent hundreds of miles from the other. In the summer of 2019, Dan decided to work at Swerve Watersports in TN. So what did Anna do? She moved to Minneapolis… How convenient. Even though they lived in different cities, they met up at ski tournaments, took camping trips, and even attended family events together. Despite cancelled flights and long drives, they always found a way to be together until Dan graduated and moved to Minneapolis in 2020. Finally in the same city, their relationship grew stronger. Hosting Halloween parties at their apartment in Uptown, going to concerts, and even buying a boat were all things done, together. They adopted sister cats named Yazoo and Stevie Licks and settled into a rental house in the Northeast Neighborhood of Minneapolis. Yazoo is named after a Brewery in Nashville and Stevie Licks, well, you know. The years trickled by and their love for each other flowed like the waters of the Mississippi. So much so that Dan proposed to Anna along the banks of the Mississippi River at Boom Island Park. A day-long scavenger hunt was Dan’s ruse for setting up the proposal. It was supposed to be a boat day with her best friend Kelsey, and his best friend Jarad, but it instead included a journey to meaningful locations with people that are special to them. When Kelsey picked Anna up to start “the Boat Day,” Anna’s other bestie, Taylor, was hidden in the back seat of Kelsey’s car to kick off the surprise. After solving clues that took Anna to coffee, brunch on the beach, nails, and drinks, she found her last clue to take her to a spot Dan (and his sisters, Grace and Lydia) prepared for them at the park. The day was perfect, the proposal was intimate, and the ring was sparkling. Anna’s and Dan’s parents were waiting for them at Pryes Brewing just across the river. The celebration continued with a barbecue in the backyard of Lydia and Mac’s. A venue in Northeast, near the east bank of the River, has been selected. Please, save the date of November 1, 2025 to join us for our wedding at the 1893 Historic Grain Belt Office building.
