Jacob and Rachel met in 2016, when Rachel was dragged by her now-Maid of Honor to hang out with her friends on a Friday night. Later in the evening at a party, while everyone else was drinking and having fun, Jacob spent the whole time talking to Rachel while she played with a random dog.
Originally meant to be at a local pizza place that ended up being too crowded, Jacob took Rachel to an Asian restaurant where he made her try lettuce wraps (which she hated). They then went back to Jacob's house, where she made him watch Forrest Gump (which he hated). I guess it ended up being a pretty good date because they talked until 2 am.
On Friday afternoon after work, we headed out for a weekend away at Black Butte Ranch. He wanted to propose right in front of the lake, but as they drove onto the Ranch, "the largest wedding ever was happening at the Lodge," as Jacob puts it. He had to quickly improvise and as we got to the house, we walked out onto the back deck where he got down on one knee and popped the question. As I said yes, my parents, his parents, and his brother walked out from where they were hiding. It was so simple but meant so much in the place that is special to us.
