How We Met

2017

We actually met through my oldest brother, Cole. He and Kyle met through National Grid and became friends. Cole started brining me around the friend group thinking Kyle would be good for me, but failed to tell either one of us his plan. So Kyle and I had to tiptoe around the fact that we liked each other because I did not want to be a bad sister by hitting on my brother's friend and he did not want to be a bad friend by hitting on his friend's sister. Kyle even came line dancing with us at the Mishnock Barn every week to hang out with me! I then had to make the first move on the first date and invite Kyle over to watch Grey's Anatomy because he loved that show and I had never seen it! And here we are, 7 years later, getting married. (As soon as Kyle finally kissed me, I could tell him the truth, that I did not like Grey's Anatomy, I only watched it as an excuse for him to come over, and I stopped watching it.)

The Proposal

2024

On our trip to Iceland last year, we had had a very long day of driving, exploring and ice cave, hiking, and sight seeing. On the way back to our Air BNB, Kyle insisted we stop at waterfall that we were supposed to see the following day. It was just starting to get dark out so the place was pretty deserted. There were actually two waterfalls at this site. One was huge and could be seen from the main road. The other, you had to go through a small cave, to see it. He takes me through the cave, we see the waterfall, and he tells me to go stand on top of this huge rock in front of it while he sets up our tripod so he can take a photo of us. When he joins me on top of the rock, he gets down on one knee and proposes. After we are finished relishing the moment, we come out, use the onsite restrooms, and when I come out, he points up to the sky and says, "Is that what I think it is?". And yes, it was the Northern Lights. The proposal was definitely worth the 6+ year wait.
