On November 11, 2011, Bethesda Softworks released the fifth title in the Elder Scrolls video game series. Skyrim. It became one of the most popular titles in the Elder Scrolls series, spawning countless websites and communities for fans. Of those communities, both of us joined SkyrimForums.org, which had a live chat feature that facilitated our conversations for nearly three years. We helped each other through good times and bad, sharing life experiences through text. When the community's popularity started to cool, we always checked into the Shoutbox to see if the other was present—we were the reason we kept coming back. In 2016, we finally had an opportunity to meet. When Thea graduated from Redstone with an avionics degree and a willingness to jump off metaphorical cliffs to start a new life, I helped find her an opportunity and offered her a couch to sleep on. Though the job fell through, the couch was solid, and two weeks after moving to Oregon for work, Thea and I were Together. We've been through so many things since then. Good times, lots of laughs, road trips, rough seas, Thea's transition and my own mental health battles. We have five dogs (which is always at least one dog too many), and a cat that thinks he's a dog. We have crazy fun playing Borderlands and Destiny 2, WoW and D&D, and though not every day can be smooth sailing, there's no one else with whom we'd rather face life's tempests. I'm so very honored to have the opportunity to spend the rest of my life with my best friend, and I can't wait to weather the future with her by my side. I love you, Thea.
