It was the summer of 2023, high up in the mountains of Buena Vista, Colorado, where the air was crisp and the sunsets seemed to touch heaven. Trail West, a Young Life family camp nestled between peaks, was where our paths first crossed. Reginald was serving with quiet strength, always ready to help, always with a smile. LaRaisha brought light and warmth wherever she went, her laugh echoing through the valley like a familiar song. We were just friends then—two people drawn together by shared purpose and a love for Jesus, growing deeper in faith alongside families and fellow leaders. In those days, we weren’t thinking about love. We were thinking about service, about surrender, about what it meant to walk with Christ. But looking back, God was already at work—planting seeds we didn’t yet see. After camp, distance stretched between us, but our friendship didn’t fade. Calls turned into conversations that lasted hours. Encouragement became prayer. Slowly, quietly, we began to realize this connection was something more.
