FAQs

Question

What do the accomodations look like?

Answer

This is a true summer camp-style wedding. The main gathering space is flexible for dining, lounging or indoor activities. The lodge has an indoor gas fireplace. Sleeping accommodations are divided between two wings off the main gathering area. Each wing features bedrooms that sleep two to 10 people in twin and/or bunk beds, plus two full bathrooms with showers. All bedrooms have an exterior door. It would be great if you can bring your sleeping bag or bedding and pillow. If you are flying in from out of state and bringing these items is complicated, we can provide bedding and a towel for you. You're also welcome to set up a tent if you're more comfortable with that (you'll still have access to running water for bathing and toilets, of course). If you'd rather find your own/private accomodations, there are plenty of options in the Grand Rapids area.

Question

Do we have to stay the whole weekend?

Answer

Nope! Come and leave whenever works for you. We'll be happy to have your company for as long or short a visit that works for you!

Question

What will meals and drinks look like?

Answer

We will provide dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, lunch on Saturday, and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. We will have plenty of coffee, tea, bubbly water, and festive bevies for the weekend, but if you want any specific alcoholic drinks, or would like to have alcoholic beverages before 3pm on Saturday, feel free to bring something too!

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

- Bedding (sleeping bag, sheets, pillow, or we'll provide bedding for you if you let us know in advance). - Beach towel and/or shower towel...you do you! - Lots of layers..it's fall up North, so you never know what you're going to get weather-wise - Ear plugs if you're a light sleeper, since you'll likely be in a shared sleeping space - Swimsuit (we're renting a sauna!) - Toiletries - Clothes for being active - Clothes for bonfire - Casual attire for ceremony (truly anything goes, but if you're looking for a guideline think a casual dress or jumpsuit with a jacket in case it gets cold for ladies, and linen or dress pants, khakis, or shorts and a collared/button up shirt for guys) - Jacket/raincoat - Any yard games you've got in your quiver! - Camp chair(s), if you are coming from MN and you have any - Travel mug for coffee, tea, or a festive beverage - We'll have lots of seltzers, beer, and wine for the late afternoons/evenings (after 3pm), but you're welcome to bring your own favorite cocktail or bevie (to share or for yourselves) if you plan on having any drinks during the day.

Question

What kind of attire is expected?

Answer

Casual attire - truly anything goes, but if you're looking for a guideline think a casual dress or jumpsuit with a jacket in case it gets cold for ladies, and linen or dress pants, khakis, or shorts and a collared/button up shirt for guys. Note for ladies: the ceremony area is on a slight hill and we'll be in grass. I'd highly suggest little or no heel, or at least wedge-type shoes. :) In case this broad description is stressing you out, some people are planning on sun dresses or jumpsuits for ladies and khakis or business casual looks for guys.
