It was August 20th 2011, it's the evening time. My parents had left and dropped young Julious off to become a college graduate. A friend of mine called me up and told me he had a “two man play”, and I said “Shidddddd”. We proceed to go to Ridgecrest South, dorms at the University of Alabama, to the movie room where I met a beautiful, goofy young lady by the name of LaQuoya Robinson. I ran my best game at the time. I used all of my best jokes, we shared a blanket, she laughed, and we cuddled. The movie ended. I walked her back to her dorm room where to my surprise, she shut the door in my face. As I walked down the hall back to my dorm room I realized I failed. Fast forward to 2012. I have secured employment at the football stadium working as a host in the skybox suites. On our first day, who is on my floor as my team member? The young and the beautiful, LaQuoya Robinson. I proceed to use my IMPROVED game, and of course make her laugh and told her that one day she’d be mine. Of course she laughed and said “Julious you tell all the girls that”. That was response gave me the "go-ahead" to apply pressure by walking her home after games, texting, calling and spending as much time as I could with her...even helping her with accounting homework. Fast forward to August 9, 2013, LaQuoya’s 20th birthday. Upon presenting her with dinner and birthday presents I presented her with the last and final gift: “Would you do me the honor of being my girl?” The rest is history. She mine now. :)
August 2011, I met my best friend, partner in crime/life, and husband, but I didn't know it quite yet. It was freshman year at the University of Alabama and he was the first person I'd met. Walking down the hall with a friend in his polo shirt, khaki cargo pants, and red vans...but the first thing I noticed was his infectious smile and his light-up-the-room personality. We talked, laughed, and cracked jokes like we'd known each other way before this moment. I'd never laughed this much and felt so comfortable around a guy before. Now, like I mentioned, this was my freshman year and I wasn't gonna be swept off my feet by some cute lil' boy with a cute smile and effortless swag...but, oh boy did he try! Time would go on, and I'd see him around campus and it was never awkward. He'd walk up to me and give the biggest, tightest hugs...you know those hugs that ya mama gives that pierce through your soul? Yea, those kind of hugs. Every. single. time. We'd chat, catch up and go about our business, until the next time. This continued until sophomore year. Being a broke college student, I applied to work in the skyboxes at Bryant-Denny Stadium to make a few coins that fall and who do I see during orientation? Julious Griffin,II! Instant joy flooded over me and I knew it was gonna be a fun fall semester. As time went on, our friendship grew. He'd walk me back to my dorm sometimes so I wouldn't have to walk alone for night games or offer to drive me home. Still very much friends we exchanged numbers. The friendship grew and grew and ya boy was laying on his mack game thick! But, I loved our friendship and was fearful that if it moved towards a romantic relationship things would change. Well August 9, 2013 we made that thang official official and haven't looked back since. We've grown SO much together through career changes, life changes, etc and I am SO excited to marry my bestie and continue to build and blossom together.
