The story of how Alex and I met is kind of funny because we have known each other for a long time through our slot car racing group. What’s funny is Alex actually couldn’t stand when the LaQuatra kids would show up to races because we were apparently too loud. Can you believe he would say such a thing! But in 2016, during our Boston, MA National Event, Alex decided to Facebook message me at 12:30 am that one of his car parts broke. A couple messages later Alex managed to get my phone number and the rest is history.
Finally, the day! It was the one year that we decided to do a theme to our gift giving. We each got the other a gift that reminded us of them. While I was in Georgia, a week before Christmas, Alex called and said “let's add one last category to this list” and the category was something “to do together”. On Christmas Day we took turns opening each others gifts, and might I add, he really outdid himself! Anything that he could get that was remotely expensive, he got for me! It got down to the last category and there was no thought in my mind that he would propose. Heck, it was 9am and I was on my 2nd glass of wine! He opened up my gift which, by the way, was the best Harry Potter Trivia game you can get! Thank you Barnes and Nobles! Then, he put the game to the side, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! The thing he wanted to do was spend the rest of our lives together. I hope he knows what he just signed up for!
